Teila Watson/Protect Country Strategist

Teila Watson is a BirriGubba and Gangulu woman from what is now referred to as central Queensland, raised in Brisbane's Blackfulla community, and joins QCC as our new Protect Country Strategist.

She brings professional experience in the environmental space through community organising and campaigning, and also the cultural knowledge and values that have been passed down through her family and community for generations.

Teila is especially passionate about climate justice, history, Aboriginal governance (ecologically and socially) and cultural continuity. She is committed to ensuring that First Nations voices are not only heard, but are central to QCC's work.
