Stand Up For Nature
Nature provides us with the air we breathe, the landscapes we love and the iconic animals we adore like the koala and greater glider.
Queensland is truly special, home to more plants and animals than any other state or territory.
But sadly, over 1000 species are threatened and need protecting.
By joining the Stand Up For Nature campaign you’ll be part of a community that is showing decision makers that the nature we love is worth protecting.
We know the vast majority of people care about protecting and looking after our unique wildlife and habitats. But right now nature needs your help more than ever.
Queensland has the least amount of national parks and protected areas compared to any other state or territory and we are still world leaders in deforestation.
Why do we need to Stand Up For Nature?
- Over 300,000 hectares of forest and woodland are bulldozed every year
- Only 8.2% of Queensland is in the protected areas estate
- 1049 threatened species
We know some of the best ways to ensure our incredible landscapes and wildlife are protected is through strong laws and permanent habitat protection. We need all sides of politics to protect nature by committing to:
- Doubling Queensland's protected areas by 2030
- Introducing strong nature laws that end deforestation and invest in the protection of habitat for threatened species, including better planning laws to ensure the renewable energy transition benefits nature
- Creating an independent Environmental Protection Agency
