It's Time for Climate Action
Climate change is already hurting Queensland communities. We've dealt with unprecedented fires, floods and coral bleaching – all as a result of polluting fossil fuels and large-scale destruction of our precious ecosystems. This is the critical decade to take action and prevent the worst impacts of global heating – for humanity and the ecosystems that support us.
As a rich nation Australia should be leading by example, but instead, states like Queensland are dragging our feet. The Sunshine State is home to natural wonders that need to be protected yet we have one of the biggest fossil fuel mine pipelines in the world. We must take action now if we want to protect our way of life and our precious ecosystems like the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
That's why we're leading a strong community campaign for more climate action. This includes:
-
Increasing Queensland's commitment to slash emissions – take action today by signing our petition calling for bi-partisan support for higher emission reduction targets, no new coal and gas, and a clean energy transition that benefits biodiversity. Or, share your story about why you want climate action.
-
Repowering our polluting energy system with clean, renewable energy. This includes working with community, social service, faith and climate groups in the Power Together Coalition – together we're calling for more investment in renewable energy and climate resilience to build stronger communities.
-
Making sure we have the right planning laws in place so we're building a clean energy industry that benefits biodiversity, First Nations people, and regional communities. Learn more and take action here.
