Designed by and for women and gender diverse people working for and committed to our environment (paid or unpaid), WELA Weekends — Queensland program 2022 is a new opportunity based on the successful WELA National Leadership program and developed in partnership with the Queensland Conservation Council..
The program will bring together 20 women and gender diverse people for a single 4 day leadership development retreat in Queensland. Participants come from diverse backgrounds, ages and communities and are working on a variety of environmental issues and campaigns around the state and the country. Some will be employed in the movement. Others will be working as volunteers or individuals.
WELA Leadership Programs address the ways in which women’s leadership can transform our response to our environmental and climate crises. We empower women and gender-diverse people to identify their own approach to leadership, and to recognise and step into their power to influence. While the National Leadership Program is a 9 months intensive both online and retreat-based program, the WELA Weekends regional programs are a deep dive into the main program content adapted to a short period of time. If you’ve ever thought about applying, but haven’t been able to commit to the full annual program, this shorter experience could be just what you need.
