Week of Action Before #ShowYourStripes Day

#ShowYourStripes Day is a global moment to start conversations about climate change and raise awareness of the causes and solutions. The 'Warming Stripes' are a powerful visual that uses a colour scale to show the average yearly temperature increases over time between 1850-2024 (Prof. Ed Hawkins, University of Reading). We had a great time getting together last year to view the stripes on Story Bridge, this time we want to make it bigger with your support!
Two ways you can take part:
Host an event
Increase your impact by bringing your friends, family and community together for a fun #ShowYourStripes themed event to celebrate nature and climate, and demonstrate active community support. Maybe its an event you are already running or going along to, where you get attendees to take part in the digital action and distribute flyers about the #ShowYourStripes Day viewing (we can provide). Some other examples could be wearing the colours and getting together to take the digital action at a picnic, getting creative with stripy crafts and distributing them, a fun pop up outside a market or train station, a roadside action, letterboxing flyers, projection, film screening or any other clever ways to use the theme to raise awareness and engage your community.
Digital Action
Post the 'Warming Stripes' for Australia using any of the following social media templates and please tag #Qldconservation, #ShowYourStripes and Queensland's Premier David Crisafulli (Facebook - @DavidCrisafulliMP, Insta - @david_crisafulli, Tik Tok - @david.crisafulli.mp, Twitter - davidcrisafulli, LinkedIn - #DavidCrisafulliMP). Better yet, do a short 1mins video and share with tags! We also have a paper version of "#ShowYourStripes with me because…" sign that you could print out, take a photo of yourself with, or get others to take the action with you (Brisbane, Queensland).
