Central Queensland is home to unique, endangered ecosystems and critical to the transition to clean energy and industries in Queensland. QCC and the Australian Conservation Foundation have been working on ways to protect and restore nature through the energy transition.

ACF have completed a nation wide mapping project to create a desktop assessment of the most important and biodiverse areas. They have mapped this against access to transmission and renewable energy resource and identified areas in Central Queensland of lower biodiversity that should be prioritised for renewable energy development.

QCC have been bringing people together in Rockhampton and Gladstone to discuss detailed local issues and solutions, from identifying key species at risk and areas to protect, to investigating ways that renewable energy sites can be best managed for the environment.

Join ACF campaigner Jack and QCC's Regional Environmental Advocates for Rockhampton & Gladstone, Flynn & Emma, to hear about these two complementary approaches to tackling a wicked problem, and hear about the next steps for a safe climate and nature protection in Central Queensland.
