Help Secure Homes for All – People, Wildlife, and Nature
We all have a role to play in shaping a sustainable future for South East Queensland. As our population grows, so does the need for responsible, environmentally-conscious (or 'nature positive') development. Your voice and actions can make a real difference.
Here’s how you can help ensure that SEQ remains a thriving, livable region for all – humans and wildlife alike.
How You Can Take Action
-
Stand up for Nature!
- This is our new, shared, statewide campaign to raise the profile of the animals and places we love and the need to protect it.
- Order your free Stand Up for Nature Sign here, and out more about current events and actions here.
- Send an Email to the Premier, Opposition leader and your local MP asking them to Stand Up For Nature.
-
Stay Informed & Spread the Word
- Start by learning more about the regional plan, Shaping SEQ 2023 and how it impacts future development, and what other ideas and solutions are important to ensure the liveability and biodiversity of SEQ.
- Use our community info & communications resources to help you and your local groups continue to share this critical information with friends, family, and your community. Raising awareness is the first step toward protecting our precious ecosystems.
-
Contact Your Local Representatives
- Your local council and state representatives need to hear from you! Express your concern about the impact of urban sprawl on our wildlife and demand sustainable planning that prioritises the protection of SEQ’s ecosystems.
- We have a range of resources and can help get you started.
-
Join our greater Brisbane working group, or a Local Action Group
- QCC have a growing network of people committed to Homes for All and a liveable, sustainable SEQ for years to come! Get in contact to get a briefing and get involved.
- Many local environmental groups are actively working on protecting, restoring and reconnecting habitat across SEQ, in addition to campaigning for sustainable growth. Get involved with grassroots movements or start your own local group to advocate for wildlife and habitat protection.
-
Restore and Regenerate
- Get your hands dirty! Volunteering for local reforestation and habitat restoration projects is a great way to directly contribute to expanding critical habitats for SEQ’s endangered wildlife. From creek clean-ups to local koala advocacy there are many ways to get involved with local conservation efforts.
