Are you concerned about the rising cost of living, extreme weather events (like heatwaves, or bushfires) or climate change?
Then, join us to find out how we can tackle all these at the same time - save on our energy and food bills, learn permaculture techniques, and having more control over our food production. This free community event will feature leading advocates, along with nibbles and a hands on workshop.
Speakers & Workshop:
- Jenny Brown - Climate Lead at Queensland Conservation Council with expertise in climate and environmental policy. Jenny has diverse experience, most recently she worked for the World Bank where she supported efforts to decarbonise the international transport sector, including by developing a Pacific wide decarbonisation plan.
- Luke Reade - Founding President of Energetic Communities Association, and Climate Change & Energy Policy Advisor at the Australian Conservation Foundation. Luke has over 20 years experience as a scientist, activist or advisor. Has worked in Australian, European and International consultancy, and have twice attended the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) on Climate Change.
- Ben Laing - Environmental Scientist, Ceramicist and Permaculture Teacher at Permaqueer. He has a background in guerilla gardening, specifically with Growing Forward in Meanjin. Ben will speak to the interlink between macro level climate challenges we face as communities and local micro level solutions available to build more resilient neighbourhoods through a workshop around food and water security.
