For most of the last thirty years I have been an active environmentalist in the Darling Downs region. During that time, I have worked as a convenor of a regional conservation council and been involved in the set up of many single issue and broad-based community environment groups in the region.

Most recently, from 2013 to 2023, I was Secretary of the Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC) and DDEC's representative to the Minister's Environment Round Table for the same period. My main areas of interest are legislation and compliance of the Mining and Coal Seam Gas industries and water quality in the Condamine and Balonne catchment.
