Community Action! Threatened Species Day
This Threatened Species Day organise a community action or event to help to spread the message! Events are a great opportunity to bring people together to collectively learn about and take action for nature. These events could be to any scale and could take a number of forms. It could be a simple as a picnic with your friends and paint one of our "poster petitions."
The key elements that would make your event a Stand Up For Nature event are:
- It happens on or close to threatened species day (Saturday 7th September).
- It includes participants painting and signing a provided Stand Up For Nature poster.
- You share this poster and photos of the event with your local state MP and candidates.
As we head towards a State election in October 2024, and a Federal election in 2025, this year's threatened species day is particularly important to give a voice to our incredible unique animals, plants and places we love so much across Queensland. Here in Queensland we have over a thousand threatened species!
We know the majority of people care about nature, ensuring our message is loud and clear puts pressure on decision makers to make the right decisions and prioritise nature.
We know the best way to ensure our incredible landscapes and wildlife are protected is through strong laws and permanent habitat protection. We need all sides of politics to protect nature by committing to:
- Doubling Queensland’s protected areas by 2030.
- We need strong nature laws that end deforestation and protect critical habitat for threatened species including Koalas in SEQ.
