Dear Premier David Crisafulli, and Treasurer and Energy Minister David Janetzki, 
I live in regional Queensland and want to make sure my community is set up for the future. 
I’m writing to you because I’m concerned that the Crisafulli Government’s policy settings will send the signal that Queensland is closed for clean business and will make it challenging to diversify regional economies. 
The transformation of the global economy is an opportunity for Queensland to capitalise on our natural advantages and set our communities up to prosper long into the future. 
Queensland has enviable solar and wind resources, abundant natural capital, and critical minerals the world is demanding. We have the opportunity to set up new clean manufacturing industries right here to produce export materials like green iron and hydrogen. Our regions have a long, proud history being the energy and economic powerhouses of the Sunshine State – a legacy that can continue with regional investment, responsible planning and policy certainty. 
We’re already seeing the transition underway in our communities. Queensland’s key industrial players, like Rio Tinto, recognise that to remain globally competitive they have to repower their operations with renewable energy backed by storage. That’s why Rio Tinto has plans to repower their Gladstone operations and smelter, and Sun Metals is aiming to power their Townsville zinc refinery with renewable energy.
Fossil fuels are a finite resource that our communities can’t rely on forever. Investing in Queensland’s natural advantage in renewable energy and new clean manufacturing industries is our chance for security and long-term prosperity. 
I'm concerned that the Crisfulli Government's stance on renewable energy will drive investors to other states. 
I urge your government to provide policy certainty and keep Queensland open for clean business by maintaining our renewable energy and climate targets, and urgently releasing plans to meet them.
I want to see a well-planned roll out of renewable energy where all Queenslanders can access clean and affordable energy. Please don’t let ideology get in the way of what’s in the best interests of regional Queenslanders.
