Stop Vitrinite destroying koala habitat and mining coal without approval

Scroll down to take action!

Vitrinite, a coal company in Queensland, is under fire for destroying koala habitat and mining of coal without approval.

We have drone footage suggesting they have already bulldozed 47 hectares of land and are starting to mine coal—all without the necessary federal approval. Their Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act application for the full Vulcan South mine that would clear 800 hectares of habitat is still with the Federal Government.

We can’t stand by and let this happen. Minister for the Environment Tanya Plibersek has the authority to intervene and stop Vitrinite before more damage is done. Our koalas are already struggling due to habitat loss and climate change, and they need urgent protection.

Act now: Tell Minister Plibersek to enforce the law, protect our koalas, issue a stop work order and refuse approval for further clearing for the mine.

Vitrinite has a history of disregarding environmental protections, including incidents of pollution and unauthorised land clearing. If we don’t speak up now, they could keep getting away with it.
