Each year, hundreds of thousands of hectares of forest and woodland are bulldozed in Queensland and new coal and gas projects continue to be approved. The destruction of habitat alongside the impacts of climate change is driving the extinction crisis and our state and federal laws are allowing this destruction to continue. Since Australia’s current national environment protection law took effect 20 years ago, more than seven million hectares of threatened species habitat has been destroyed. Ours laws are broken and the new government must implement the necessary reforms.
