The Queensland Government has proposed concerning new changes to Queensland's State Development laws that would fast track development, reduce community consultation and have serious impacts landholders. The proposed changes would extend the powers of the Coordinator General and give powers to the Deputy Premier to declare developments 'state strategic - a fast track pathway. They would also be able to modify how existing laws apply to projects – like our environment, heritage and human rights laws.
If the proposed State Development Bill is made into law, it would put natural environments and threatened species at further risk and lead to significant impacts on conservationists, landholders, Traditional Owners, and others who seek to protect their land and local ecosystems from development.
Please email your State MP and ask them to reject the State Development and Public Works Organisation (Critical Minerals) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026 in its current form.
