Bruce

Hi, I'm Bruce. I was a microbiologist during my working life – now retired. I have always been interested in the natural world and I would describe caring for and preserving it as one of my values. I have become increasingly concerned about the state of our environment, both in Queensland and globally. My chief concerns are climate change, deforestation and biodiversity loss. The Queensland Conservation Council (QCC) is active in all these areas, and although I’m a member of a number of environmental groups, what I find attractive about the QCC is their focus on Queensland – my back yard, where I feel I can make a tangible difference. My focus within QCC has been with the Nature Volunteers, with the campaigns to stop old growth forest logging, reduce the rate of land clearing, and increase the area of Queensland protected in national parks
