Toohey Forest Bioblitz
event WHEN
April 28, 2024 at 10:00am - 12pm16 RSVPS
Join QCC volunteers and southside locals for a fun bioblitz (plant and animal survey) as part of the Protect Beautiful Queensland week of action. A campaign to double Queensland's protected areas by 2030 in well managed national parks, private protected areas and Indigenous Protected Areas. Throughout the week people are getting together for fun nature focused events to highlight why protected areas are so important.
This bioblitz will use the citizen scientist tool “iNaturalist” to record the location of all species we spot whilst walking through this vital koala habitat. iNaturalist uses photo imagery to identify all species of both flora and fauna, but if it isn't sure, you can upload your image for a specialist to identify!
This data is helpful in determining the biodiversity and ecological health of the forest, it can then be used to influence decision makers with the value of the habitat and help protect the species that live there.
Bring a friend, improve your identification skills and enjoy the fresh air while knowing you’re helping to protect Toohey forest as well as taking part in a state wide campaign to double Queensland's protected areas.
