We Won! After years of community campaigning for strong new nature laws, reforms to Australia’s federal nature law, the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, finally passed parliament on the 28 November 2025.

The new laws are far from perfect, but they are a leap forward in protecting nature. With greater protections for forests, woodlands that provide homes for threatened species and for the first time ever a National Environmental Protection Agency.
