A lot is at stake this federal election. Peter Dutton's risky nuclear scheme is nothing but a ploy to keep the fossil fuel industry happy and Australia reliant on polluting coal and gas. Meanwhile, the Australian Government is failing to protect our iconic species and landscapes from rampant deforestation.

Together, we can make sure that our decision makers get the message that Australians are passionate about protecting nature and acting on climate change. This is a key moment to get active, get loud, and make sure that climate and nature are firmly on the national agenda in the lead up to the election.

I live in your local area and I’m very concerned about climate change and the rapid decline of Australia's environment.
The health of our environment is central to our way of life, economy, and identity. We all want to make sure our kids can enjoy the same places and wildlife we love – but nature across the country is in significant decline. Rampant deforestation and the impacts of climate change are unraveling our ecosystems and pushing our species to the brink.
A staggering 2,000 species and ecological communities are listed as threatened and over 100 species have been lost forever. Our beloved koala, greater glider, and Gouldian finch are just a few of the iconic species now at risk.
We know our national nature laws are broken – the Samuel Review made that crystal clear. And for many species, unmitigated climate change-fuelled extreme weather events, like heat waves, fires and floods, will make it impossible for their numbers to bounce back.
To curb this destruction, I'm calling on you to support the following vital initiatives:
<ul>
<li>Real climate action not nuclear distractions;</li>
 <li>an independent Environment Protection Agency (EPA)</li>
<li>A science-based 2035 emissions reduction target;</li>
<li>Urgent reforms to fix our broken national nature laws; and</li>
<li>1% of government funding to restore and protect nature.</li>
</ul>
This is a pivotal moment for Australia. We can ensure nature thrives for future generations by reversing biodiversity loss, strengthening environmental protections and accelerating our shift to a low-carbon economy. We can build a resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future for all Australia’s communities and species.
I hope you will champion these initiatives. This is a crucial moment for leadership.
