Send an email to the councillors asking them to support the TLPI and protect koalas from habitat destruction. We've made it easy with a pre-drafted email that you can choose whether to adapt or not so you can send it in just a few clicks.
Every email counts. Let's show the council that our community cares about koalas and their future.
Dear Mayor and Councillors,
I am writing to strongly urge you to support Deputy Mayor Rebecca Vonhoff’s motion to implement a Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) at the upcoming council meeting.
Koala habitats in Highfields and surrounding areas are under serious threat from ongoing development, and with the delay of a draft planning scheme until mid-2026, our local wildlife remains unprotected. We cannot afford to wait up to three more years to protect koala habitats.
The proposed TLPI is essential to safeguard mature trees that are critical for koala survival. Protecting these trees will help strike a balance between responsible development and the conservation of this iconic species, which is already endangered.
For too long, residents have watched as habitat destruction continues unchecked. This is an opportunity for the council to act decisively in favour of the environment and protect the natural heritage of our region.
I urge you to vote in favour of the TLPI and take the necessary steps to ensure that koalas and their habitat are preserved for future generations.
