Dear Ross Vasta MP, Kara Cook and Wen Li, I live in your local area and I’m very concerned about climate change and the significant cost of Australia remaining reliant on polluting coal and gas. 
Right now Australians are struggling to manage the high cost of living. High international coal and gas prices and rolling breakdowns at Queensland’s ageing coal and gas power stations have sent our power bills skyrocketing.
At the same time, we’re already dealing with more frequent and extreme weather events fuelled by the climate crisis – such as heatwaves, floods and fires. The costs of these disasters add to our grocery bills and insurance. 
The good news is the clean technology solutions we need to address both the cost of living and climate crises are available now.
We can make our homes more comfortable with energy efficiency upgrades and power our lives with affordable renewable energy, like rooftop solar and household battery storage. The solutions are here – we just need governments to make sure that they’re accessible to all.
I am deeply concerned about the Coalition’s nuclear scheme. Nuclear energy is too expensive, too risky, and too slow to replace our retiring coal-fired power stations. In fact, polling shows only 34% of Queenslanders want governments to support nuclear energy. 
That's why I’m asking you you to please champion the following policy initiatives:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Real climate action not nuclear distractions;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">A science-based 2035 emissions reduction target; and</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Support for all households, including renters and social housing tenants, to access affordable household solar energy and storage. </li>
</ul>
Repowering our grid with renewable energy backed by storage is also vital to establishing new clean manufacturing industries and future-proofing regional economies that currently depend on fossil fuel exports. We know that international governments and corporations are taking steps to decarbonise, so a responsible government plans for the future and invests in new clean industries to match the changing global demand. 
I hope that you will be a champion for our clean energy future.
