Queensland Conservation Council has made a submission in response to the Queensland government discussion paper Advancing Climate Action in Queensland. QCC has made a number of recommendations for the government to consider and respond to on how it should address climate change at the state level.
These include action on transitioning the economy to a low carbon one, rapidly shifting to a renewable power base, establishing expert taskforces to tackle economic and social transformation, and changing how government itself operates. Fundamentally, the submission calls for this to be a whole of government exercise, not only an environmental one. QCC has put forward made a series of proposals…what’s needed now is the political will to see this through to set Queensland up to become a leader in climate action.
