Queensland Conservation Council is turning 50, and to help celebrate this significant milestone we are hosting a special dinner to celebrate.

The 50th Anniversary Dinner is an opportunity for our supporters, both past and present, to connect or reconnect and celebrate the last 50 years of great triumphs (and a few sad defeats) with an eye for the next 50 years.

The event is being held on Saturday 19th October at the Victoria Park Golf Course, starting at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $75 for an adult, $50 for concession (student/pensioner/health care card holder) which includes -

    • A delicious vegetarian meal
    • Complimentary drink on arrival (with cash bar available on the night)
    • A few short speeches
    • Live music

Come and hear about QCC's plans for the future, how we can grow stronger to tackle the growing threats that face us over the next 50 years. How we can continue to be a hub for the Queensland environment movement, and welcome the next generation of nature guardians.

We look forward to seeing you on the night, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. Dress code will be smart casual but if you would like to add sparkle we won’t mind.

If your organisation would like to support the dinner there are limited sponsorship opportunities available, please see sponsorship package details here.

    Leaving a Bequest

Would you like to be part of QCC’s mission to protect the environment, wildlife and landscapes, conserve our precious natural resources and make Queensland businesses and communities more sustainable?

By making a bequest for QCC in your will you are helping this mission and in turn creating your own environmental legacy for future generations.

Your legacy gift will allow QCC to continue to work with our allies to -

SAVE Queensland’s koalas by stopping the bulldozing of koala habitat
SPEED UP Queensland’s transition away from fossil fuels by promoting renewable energy
CUT climate pollution by advocating for a statewide climate action plan
CREATE new National Parks through a well-funded Protected Areas Strategy for Queensland

QCC relies on donations as a large part of its funding. A bequest does not need to be a large sum of money, even small amounts will help make the fight to protect the environment that much easier.

    TYPES OF BEQUESTS

    • Specific Bequests - you specify the amount that you wish to go to QCC.
    • Residual Bequests - you bequest to QCC what is left of your estate after you provide for family and friends.
    • Percentage Bequest - you specify the percentage of your estate that you wish to go to QCC.
    • Endowment Bequest - you set up a trust fund and the interest from the fund is directed straight to QCC.

Your will is a very important legal document and needs professional attention. Seek the expert advice of a solicitor or trustee company when making or updating your will and be satisfied your affairs are in order. The costs involved are minimal.

If you do not have a solicitor, contact the Public Trustee, which can assist with making a will at no cost.

    SUGGESTED WORDING

There are two ways that you can include QCC in your will; you can make a will if you do not already have one, or you can make an attachment to your will called a codicil.

A codicil is the easiest way to make a bequest if you already have a will and the codicil does not change major parts of the will. If you choose to rewrite your will at a later stage, the bequest can then be fully incorporated into the will. We suggest that you see your solicitor before deciding which of these options will suit you.

After deciding on the type of bequest that you want to make, ask your solicitor to draft the appropriate clause to put in your will or to attach as a codicil. See suggested wording below -

    “I give the residue…
    OR
    “I give [insert percentage] %…
    OR
"I give [insert specific amount or gift]
…of my estate free from all debts (secured and unsecured) and all duties and taxes (whether federal or state) payable in respect of my estate to the Queensland Conservation Council Incorporated (ABN 89 717 887 219) (“QCC”) for its general purposes, and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of the said QCC shall be a full and sufficient discharge of this bequest.”
